Gazetting Of Long-Standing Labour Tenant Claims

The process of processing and finalising the claims has been slow despite a twenty-year time-lapse, and many labour tenancy applications have yet to be finalised. As a result, long-standing labour tenant claims have been Gazetted. Section 17 Notices can thus be expected once again, which will need to be responded to as before.

Concourt Orders Government To Expedite Labour Tenancy Claims

In recent interviews with E-news and Farmer’s Weekly (Dealing with the bias in SA’s labour Tenancy Claims system), land and labour law specialist, Rob McCarthy comments on the Constitutional Court’s judgement, ordering the government to appoint a special master to oversee the processing of thousands of long-standing labour tenancy claims. 


We have received numerous requests from clients to assist in opposing labour tenant claims made against their properties. Many such claims in terms of sections 16 and 17 of the Land Reform (Labour Tenants) Act, 1996 (Act No. 3 of 1996), have recently been served, and will no doubt still be served by the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform.
